Reeth Mazumder-Roberts
Reeth Mazumder-Roberts is an Indo- Canadian actress, writer, and director. She is one of the few actresses from India who successfully transitioned from Bollywood to world cinema. Reeth is also known by the moniker 'Festival Girl' for her films, has been a favorite at various international film festivals, including Cannes, over the years. Mazumder was born in Kolkata in a creatively inclined Bengali family. Her late grandfather, Nikunja Bhattacharya, was a veteran editor in Bengali cinema.
In 2011, Reeth started modeling in India and became the face of several leading brands. In the same year, she bagged the lead role in an Indo-Italian film, Visible Bra Straps. This film was showcased in 25 international film festivals and won critical acclaim and awards, including the Audience choice award, Golden Palm, and Best Experimental film. Reeth later acknowledged that this film changed her life overnight.
Mazumder was chosen to showcase Asian talent at the 2011 Cannes film festival in a new feature called 'The Talent's Corner.'
Later, Reeth starred in the International award-winning co-productions like THE AU REVOIR, SWEN, and Porobashinee.
In 2016 she made her screen debut in her home country with A Scandall.
In 2017, Reeth became the first Bollywood star to feature in a French metal song.
In the same year, Reeth moved to Canada with her North American Dream and began her new journey as a Screenwriting student for Film and Television.
In 2020, Reeth also bagged awards as Best Woman Filmmaker (Canada), Best Canadian Short, and Audience Choice for her film "You May Kiss the Bride."
In 2022, Reeth is directing her first Anthology Feature project, "GRIEF," and a Docuseries titled "I AM RISING."
Mazumder is also a writer on a World War II feature script under a former CBC Producer and has been commissioned to write an era-based Series with a German Historian.
