He led his own trio on television and in hotels and nightclubs, and made many records. He appeared in concerts at Carnegie Hall and at Boston's Symphony Hall, and wrote the nightclub scores for the Latin Quarter in New York. Joining ASCAP in 1946, his chief musical collaborator was Henry Tobias, and his other popular-song and instrumental compositions include "Miami Beach Rhumba", "Chantez Chantez" and "Take Her to Jamaica".
