Trudi Goodman is a singer, actor, musician, writer. director and producer. She sings in a variety of languages including Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, German, Spanish, French and Italian. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1954. She is of Sephardic and Ashkenazic Jewish descent. Her great-grandfather Herman was a composer of Jewish Liturgical music who also hand-built pianos and organs. Her Grandmother Elke sang opera and had a debut at The Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Her Great Uncle Nathan came up with the name Paramount, for Paramount Pictures. One of her uncles (Yankel) played in Vaudeville with The Harmonicats. Her father, Arthur was a highly decorated WW2 Veteran. Her mother's father, Moshe was a Cantor. Trudi plays guitar and recorder and has performed in a number of One-Woman Shows, including The Sunny Side of the Street: Scenes from Real and Unreal Life(which she wrote and produced)and Die Maase Bukh: The Jewish Experience in Poetry and Song (which she compiled, created, translated, directed and produced). She works primarily as a Film and Stage Actor and Singer/Musician. She was at one time a traveling Folk Musician throughout the New England Area. She is a published poet. She was co-editor of the poetry and prose publication: Zone: A Feminist Journal for Women and Men. She is a graduate of University of Massachusetts at Boston (1984) and The New Theatre Conservatory (1997). She teaches Theatre, Performance Skills. She is a winner of The Susan Glover Hitchcock Award (U.Mass/Boston) and The Boston Globe Award for Work in Ensemble.
